Baylor University faculty and staff showcased their competitive spirit and community pride during the 2026 Waco Sports Commission Corporate Cup, helping the University earn a third-place overall finish in the competition while continuing Baylor's longstanding support of the Waco community.
This year’s Waco Sports Corporate Cup brought together employees from organizations across the region, including Baylor, Ascension Providence, SpaceX, TSTC and others in the large division, for a series of friendly competitions that culminated in the signature Main Event, a one-of-a-kind adult field day at McLennan Community College. As the early morning rain cleared away, the Main Event began in earnest, with participants competing to ultimately support programs that benefit local youth.

“Events like the Greater Waco Sports Commission Corporate Cup highlight the strong connection between Baylor and the city we call home,” said Camille Wilder, assistant director of Community Relations at Baylor University. “Our faculty and staff were proud to represent Baylor, and it was inspiring to see colleagues from across campus come together for the greater good. As the largest employer in McLennan County, Baylor is committed to being an engaged community partner, and the Corporate Cup is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships, celebrate community spirit and invest in programs that make a lasting impact across Waco.”
Team Baylor delivered several standout performances during the months-long series of competitions, winning individual championships in Kan Jam and Cornhole in the Main Event and capturing first place in the inaugural – and highly competitive – Pickleball tournament at Waco Regional Tennis & Fitness.
In addition, Baylor stepped up beyond participation as the presenting sponsor of the 3-on-3 basketball tournament and the new 3-point shootout held at Midway High School. Baylor teams earned second place finishes in the basketball events, contributing valuable points toward the University's overall third-place finish.
“The support from participating businesses in the Waco Sports Corporate Cup allows the Greater Waco Sports Commission to invest in programs that strengthen our community through sport,” said executive director Mike Vogelaar, a Baylor alumnus who earned his degree in Sport Sponsorship & Sales (S3) in the Hankamer School of Business. “From youth development programs to local events to sustaining impactful programs like TEAM Waco that helps break down physical, mental and financial barriers for athletes aspiring to compete in endurance sports, these efforts together help us build healthier youth, stronger families and a more connected Greater Waco community.”
